CE STANDARDS FOR PROTECTORS

Standard EN-1621-1:2012

The EN-1621-1 :2012 standard defines the precise, replicable framework based on scientific studies of accidentology for the conduct of tests to certify protection components for motorcyclists.

Back protectors must pass these tests at certified independent laboratories before their level of approval can be displayed.

2 levels of protection exist to date: 

           Level 1 must render a force of less than 35 kilonewton during an impact

           Level 2 must render less than 20 kN

 


CE MARKING FOR PROTECTORS

     1 : personal protective equipment for motorcyclists

     2 : category (K: knee, S: shoulder, E: elbow, H: hip), and type of protector (A or B)

     3 : test performed at low temperature

     4 : test performed at high temperature

     5 : performance level (1 or 2)

Standard EN-1621-2:20124

The EN-1621-2 :2014 standard defines the precise, replicable framework based on scientific studies of accidentology for the conduct of tests to certify back protection components for motorcyclists.

Back protectors must pass these tests at certified independent laboratories before their level of approval can be displayed.

2 levels of protection exist to date:

• Level 1 must render a force of less than 18 kilonewton during an impact

• 
Level 2 must render less than 9kN

CE MARKING FOR BACK PROTECTORS

     1 : personal protective equipment for motorcyclists

     2 : category (FB: Full back protector)

     3 : test performed at low temperature -10°C validated

     4 : test performed at high temperature +40°C validated

     5 : performance level (1 or 2)
